Notes: In 1830, the census of Macon County describes the Humphrey Childers household thus:
1 male, less than 5 years;
1 male, 20 - 29
1 female, 15 - 19

In 1840, the
census of Macon County describes the Humphrey Childers household thus:
1 male, less than 5 years;
3 males, 5 to 9 years;
1 male, 10 - 14;
1 male, 30 - 39;
1 male, 40 - 59;
1 female, 20 - 29.

In 1850, Humphrey Posey Childers is with new wife Sarah "Sally" Wilson in the Tennessee Valley of
Macon County. Children at home are Nimrod, Francis Marion, Jasper Allen, Newton, Mary Alice, and
Nancy. Elijah is already away in his on household with Lucinda.

Humphrey's household also includes "Arminda Henderson", age 15. Is this Sarah's daughter who
appears in later censuses as "Amlinda Wilson"?

*In that same 1850 census, Eleanor Childers, age 3, resided with Sally's sister
Jane Hibbard Beasley and
family. Is Eleanor Sally Hibbard Childers's daughter, taken by sister Jane to help the Childers family after
Sally died?

In the 1860 census Humphrey Childers resided at census house #391, Webster, Jackson Co NC. His
occupation was listed as miller. Sarah's daughter by her previous marriage,  Amlinda (1837 - ?), was
listed in the household as "A. Childers," age 23, along with  "J. N. Childers", age 2.

In 1870, Humphrey and wife Sarah are at Qualla, Jackson County, with Sarah's daughter and grandson.

In 1880, this same family is at Birdtown (near Cherokee, Swain Co, NC), next to Yo-na-skee-nah  (trans.
"Devil Bear" thanks to Peggy Lambert). In that census, Amlinda Wilson,  "wife's daughter" and John
Wilson, age 21, "wife's grandson" were still listed in the household.
